CANS FOR KILI

Cans for Kili2 (1).png

Cans for Kili is on a mission to positively impact the environment around us, locally and globally.  Through the power of eco funding, our team hopes to collect and recycle over 1.2 million cans to cover the cost of the trip and reduce our cities' carbon footprint.

ABOUT

Did you know soda and beer can help save a mountain?

Because anything in a can, can help save Mount Kilimanjaro.

Deforestation in Tanzania is removing too many trees from Mt Kili.  Tourists and inhabitants alike have polluted the mountain with trash affecting the climate and destroying the current ecosystem of the global icon.

Luckily, it is not too late.  In the fall of 2019, 4 Hoosiers from Midwest USA will be climbing for change.  The journey will start by planting indigenous trees at the base of the mountain.  After summiting, the climbers will collect trash on their way back down, recycling it properly before returning home.

And you too CAN make a difference - with cans!  In order to fund this carbon neutral journey and inspire good habitats at home simultaneously, Christina, Colleen, Megan, and Brian will collect 1.2 million aluminum cans to be sold for scrap metal.

Collect, Conserve, Climb

Three steps for 19,341 feet*.

Taking a trip to Tanzania is sure to be the trip of a lifetime, but bringing the mission home will make an impact on our home communities for a lifetime.  The concept of eco-funding our trip makes this experience more important to the team.  By increasing the awareness of recycling in Indianapolis, we can save a mountain and our future city at the same time!
